Intelligent Movement and Evidence-Based Chiropractic Care

As a highly qualified and registered Chiropractor in both the United States and Hong Kong, Kathleen Chung is dedicated to providing evidence-based, patient-centred care at Joint Dynamics. Her philosophy centres on the belief that intelligent movement is the foundation of a healthy, resilient life. By integrating manual therapy with active rehabilitation, Kathleen empowers her patients to overcome acute injuries, manage chronic conditions, and optimise their overall physical performance.

Biography and Background

Kathleen’s journey into healthcare began in San Francisco, where her early fascination with human biomechanics and performance shaped her career path. Driven by a profound desire to help individuals move better and live healthier lives, she earned her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Kinesiology from California State University East Bay. Building upon this solid foundation in human movement, Kathleen pursued and achieved her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College West.

Following her graduation, Kathleen gained valuable experience working within the chiropractic field in the United States. However, her passion for expanding access to high-quality, multimodal chiropractic care on an international scale led her to Hong Kong. At Joint Dynamics, she brings her expertise to a diverse clientele, aiming to help more individuals experience the tangible benefits of a scientifically grounded approach to musculoskeletal health.

Specialities and Clinical Approach

Kathleen adopts a comprehensive, whole-body approach to patient care. Rather than focusing solely on the site of pain, she meticulously assesses the full spine and extremities to understand how movement patterns, posture, and biomechanics influence overall health and function. This holistic perspective allows her to identify the root causes of dysfunction and develop highly individualised treatment plans.

She is extensively trained and proficient in a variety of chiropractic techniques, including:

  • Diversified Technique: A widely used, hands-on approach for spinal and extremity joint manipulation, designed to restore proper movement and alignment.

  • Gonstead Technique: A highly specific and precise method of analysis and adjustment, focusing on the structural foundation of the spine.

  • Activator Method: A gentle, low-force instrument-assisted technique, ideal for patients who prefer a lighter touch or have specific contraindications to manual manipulation.

  • Drop-Table Technique: Utilising a specialised table to enhance the effectiveness of adjustments while minimising the force required, providing a comfortable experience for the patient.

This diverse skill set allows Kathleen to tailor her treatments precisely to each individual’s needs, whether she is addressing acute sports injuries, managing chronic lower back or neck pain, or supporting long-term joint health and athletic performance.

Qualifications and Professional Registration

Kathleen’s commitment to professional excellence is reflected in her dual registration and academic achievements:

  • Registered Chiropractor (Hong Kong)

  • Registered Chiropractor (United States)

  • Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), Life Chiropractic College West, California

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Kinesiology, California State University East Bay

Her rigorous training ensures that she provides thoughtful, individualised care that adheres to the highest international standards of safety and efficacy. Kathleen’s practice is firmly rooted in evidence-based principles, combining her manual care skills with exercise prescription and patient education to develop robust self-management strategies for her clients.

Outside of her professional practice, Kathleen is an avid animal lover, sharing her home with a Maltipoo and two cats. She is also a licensed open-water scuba diver, with a passion for exploring new dive destinations and marine life around the world. This active lifestyle reflects her core belief in the importance of movement, resilience, and living life to the fullest.
